Subject: Smiles of Punta will resume business May 11, 2020

We hope this email finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing at Smiles of Punta Gorda has remained the same: our constant commitment to your safety.

As you have surely seen during your visits to our office, infection control has always been a top priority for our practice. Our strict processes have consistently made the care you receive at Smiles of Punta Gorda both safe and comfortable.

Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We continue to closely monitor the recommendations of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued.

When it is time for your next appointment, you may see some changes along with our already strict infection control protocols. For example:

  • Our office will communicate with you ahead of your appointment to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you arrive at the office.
  • Upon arrival at office, we ask that you call or text to let us know you have arrived and what type of vehicle you are in.  Stay in your vehicle and one of our team members will come to bring you in for treatment.
  • When entering the office, we will ask you to use hand sanitizer which we will supply. You will also find some in the reception area and other places in the office for you to use as needed. You are required to bring a mask/face covering to wear while you are in our office.
  • You may see that our reception area will no longer offer magazines, children’s toys and other items which cannot be properly disinfected. You are encouraged to bring your own iPad, reading materials, etc.
  • Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered slightly limited options for scheduling your appointment.
  • We will do our best to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the office at any one time.

We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice. To make an appointment, please call our office at 941-787-2223 or visit our website at www.smilesofpuntagorda.com.

Thank you for being our patient. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors and friends in the safest way possible.

Sincerely,

Jeremy Martin DMD,
Christopher Ramke DMD,
and your Smiles of Punta Gorda team

The Truth About Family Dentistry [BLOG]

July 8, 2019

Summer fun may be in full-effect right now, but come next month all those carefree summer activities will, sadly, to come to an end. Instead you’ll likely be busy getting the kids to and from school, organizing all their afterschool time, attending their sports practices and games, and all the rest. We get it. The family dentistry team at Smiles of Punta Gorda knows what it feels like to be pulled in too many directions. That’s why we go the extra mile to respect your time by offering all the care your family needs, all under one convenient roof. Keep reading to hear more about it, then call 941-585-0424 to request your next appointment.

Healthy Smiles Begin With Dental Cleanings And Exams

Here’s some great news: we start seeing children around the age of 5. So, whether your child is going to elementary school for the first time or will be heading off to college this year, we can set your kids up with those regular checkups that are essential to maintaining excellent oral health, and a great-looking smile, at every stage of life.

At Smiles of Punta Gorda we take extra-special care with our youngest patients to ensure your children will have a positive experience each and every time they are here. And there are big benefits for them as well:

  • Our X-rays and thorough exams make sure that we will be on top of any emerging cavities or gum disease.
  • We spend enough time with cleanings to make your children’s teeth really shine.
  • Upon request, we can provide dental sealants and fluoride treatments to provide further protection against dangerous bacteria, which is always lurking.
  • We can offer advice for home care or answer any questions that come up along the way.

We’ll Repair Damaged Teeth The Modern Way

Cavities happen. They aren’t the end of the world if we catch them right away. In fact, we can help lower the likelihood of them happening with the aforementioned checkup exams. Still, something like 90 percent of patients in the U.S. will experience cavities at some point in life. As such, we only use composite fillings that match your child’s tooth. That way their smile will remain healthy AND beautiful. You won’t have to worry about those old-fashioned silver fillings showing every time they open their mouth. What’s more, you won’t have to feel like you’ve not been diligent enough about your child’s care when they smile with a discreet filling that no one can see, rather than a stark metal one that draws unwanted attention. Don’t worry, we’ll numb your child’s mouth before we place any needed fillings.

A Clearly Better Option For Straightening Smiles

The truth is that classic metal braces are often the best bet for kids. That said, not everyone needs such an intensive program, and most teens appreciate that we offer the Invisalign clear aligners system. For many fortunate folks, these clear orthodontic aligners can provide the same results as braces but with much less hassle. If you think that your teen is responsible enough to follow our specific care instructions, you should definitely consider this alternative to traditional braces. Our leader, Dr. Martin, is a certified provider of Invisalign. He can help determine whether your teen will benefit from this treatment, and their mouth will be in good hands, so to speak!

Invisalign perks include:

  • NO embarrassment over food being stuck in their braces!
  • NO dietary restrictions! Everything is on the menu!
  • NO selfies or school photos with metal braces showing!
  • NO pain or discomfort from metal brackets and wires.
  • NO extended treatment time. Invisalign works in about 12 months!
  • NO in-office adjustments. You keep swapping out the aligners at home!

A Wise Way To Handle Wisdom Tooth Extractions!

We hate to break it to you, but older teens will likely have another unique dental concern for you to work through, and it comes in the form of wisdom teeth. We’ll keep a close watch on these teeth at each exam. The good news is that some people don’t ever require their wisdom teeth to be removed. We only recommend it if there’s a higher chance of pain, overcrowding, and amplification of ordinary problems like decay. Still, it is good to know that your family dentist is equipped for such predicaments.

Call Now To Request Your Family Dentistry Solution

We hope you have been inspired by the possibilities outlined in today’s post. Keep in mind that each of these family dentistry services can provide just as much benefit to you as they can to your children! So, call 941-585-0424 if you’re ready for convenience and comfort at the dentist’s office. You can also request your visits online. Our practice is located just off Tamiami Trail, and we accept several insurance plans and offer CareCredit financing. We can’t wait to see your smiling face in one of our chairs!

To correct the loss I had of two teeth In the lower part of my mouth, Dr. Martin recommended I have a bridge that basically encompassed six teeth including the missing two. Thanks to his outstanding work and the work of his dental technician, the result was basically perfect. I couldn’t be happier about the outcome.
