Subject: Smiles of Punta will resume business May 11, 2020

We hope this email finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing at Smiles of Punta Gorda has remained the same: our constant commitment to your safety.

As you have surely seen during your visits to our office, infection control has always been a top priority for our practice. Our strict processes have consistently made the care you receive at Smiles of Punta Gorda both safe and comfortable.

Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We continue to closely monitor the recommendations of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued.

When it is time for your next appointment, you may see some changes along with our already strict infection control protocols. For example:

  • Our office will communicate with you ahead of your appointment to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you arrive at the office.
  • Upon arrival at office, we ask that you call or text to let us know you have arrived and what type of vehicle you are in.  Stay in your vehicle and one of our team members will come to bring you in for treatment.
  • When entering the office, we will ask you to use hand sanitizer which we will supply. You will also find some in the reception area and other places in the office for you to use as needed. You are required to bring a mask/face covering to wear while you are in our office.
  • You may see that our reception area will no longer offer magazines, children’s toys and other items which cannot be properly disinfected. You are encouraged to bring your own iPad, reading materials, etc.
  • Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered slightly limited options for scheduling your appointment.
  • We will do our best to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the office at any one time.

We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice. To make an appointment, please call our office at 941-787-2223 or visit our website at www.smilesofpuntagorda.com.

Thank you for being our patient. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors and friends in the safest way possible.

Sincerely,

Jeremy Martin DMD,
Christopher Ramke DMD,
and your Smiles of Punta Gorda team

Dad Wants Invisalign for Father’s Day!

June 15, 2018
Elderly Couple wearing light green and red smiling | Smiles of Punta Gorda

While you were growing up, you knew that you could count on your dad.

He wasn’t perfect, but his heart was always in the right place. You knew that he was willing to do anything, willing to make personal sacrifice, to help you live your best life.

One of those sacrifices may have been his own smile.

We don’t mean to say that he never smiled. We would bet that he did.

But maybe, his teeth aren’t as straight he would like. Your dad may not have ever said anything about this, but you could tell from little clues that he felt self-conscious about letting other people see his teeth.

You know you can never repay your dad for all the little things he taught you or for all the advice he’s given you over the years.

You can show your appreciation in another way, however. You could help him feel more comfortable showing his smile the next time one of his grandkids asks to take a “selfie” with him.

If you’d like to give your dad the gift of nicer teeth this Father’s Day, call our Punta Gorda, FL dentist office at 941-585-0424. At Smiles of Punta Gorda, we’ve helped countless dads — and moms and young adults — improve their smiles with Invisalign®.

Why Invisalign?

If you aren’t familiar with this orthodontic service, you may be wondering why anyone might think that their dad wants Invisalign.

Let’s start by explaining what it isn’t. It’s not braces (although some people have referred to the service as “invisible braces). It does not use brackets and wires to move teeth into new positions.

Instead, Invisalign uses a series of clear aligners to gently push teeth into a more visually appealing alignment. This service was developed as an alternative treatment for adults who were not willing to wear braces.

As such, the aligners can be used to do fix a variety of issues:

  • They can correct crowding.
  • They can close gaps in someone’s smile.
  • They can straighten crooked teeth.
  • They can close open bites.
  • They can correct crossbites.
  • And they can fix overbite and underbites.

No One Will Know He’s Being Treated

Invisalign was originally designed with adult patients, like your dad, in mind. The creator of this system understood that many adults were not willing to wear braces. No matter how effective braces might be, many adults worry that they could be distracting if they had braces at work or in social situations.

Earlier we noted that the aligners are clear. In other words, they are transparent. When your dad places an aligner over his teeth, it will blend in. Visually, it seems to disappear, which means your dad can wear his aligner without feeling self-conscious about it.

That’s just one of the benefits of using Invisalign compared to braces.

Each series of aligners is custom-designed for that particular patient. Every aligner is made of a piece of smooth plastic. That’s means, it’s more comfortable than braces, which can sometimes irritate the soft tissues inside someone’s mouth.

Where braces stay on someone’s teeth 24 hours per day every single day of his treatment, Invisalign aligners can be removed for a few hours daily. In fact, your dad should remove the aligners when he sits down for a meal.

That means he can eat anything that he wants throughout his Invisalign treatment. That’s not something anyone with braces should do. Many foods can cause brackets to come loose or wires to break. That’s not a concern for Invisalign patients.

A Straight Smile is a Healthy Smile For Dad

While everyone can appreciate the benefits of an attractive smile, there is another benefit we have to point out as dental professionals. Having straight teeth is good for your dad’s oral health as well.

Straight teeth are easier to clean. When teeth don’t overlap one another and aren’t too close together, brushing, flossing, and getting professional cleanings at Smiles of Punta Gorda are more effective at removing plaque and tartar.

As long as your dad follows a good oral hygiene routine, he can do a better job if his teeth are straighter.

This Father’s Day, give your dad a gift that won’t just sit on a shelf. Give him something that he can have with him wherever he goes — a confident smile!

To correct the loss I had of two teeth In the lower part of my mouth, Dr. Martin recommended I have a bridge that basically encompassed six teeth including the missing two. Thanks to his outstanding work and the work of his dental technician, the result was basically perfect. I couldn’t be happier about the outcome.
