Subject: Smiles of Punta will resume business May 11, 2020

We hope this email finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing at Smiles of Punta Gorda has remained the same: our constant commitment to your safety.

As you have surely seen during your visits to our office, infection control has always been a top priority for our practice. Our strict processes have consistently made the care you receive at Smiles of Punta Gorda both safe and comfortable.

Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We continue to closely monitor the recommendations of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued.

When it is time for your next appointment, you may see some changes along with our already strict infection control protocols. For example:

  • Our office will communicate with you ahead of your appointment to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you arrive at the office.
  • Upon arrival at office, we ask that you call or text to let us know you have arrived and what type of vehicle you are in.  Stay in your vehicle and one of our team members will come to bring you in for treatment.
  • When entering the office, we will ask you to use hand sanitizer which we will supply. You will also find some in the reception area and other places in the office for you to use as needed. You are required to bring a mask/face covering to wear while you are in our office.
  • You may see that our reception area will no longer offer magazines, children’s toys and other items which cannot be properly disinfected. You are encouraged to bring your own iPad, reading materials, etc.
  • Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered slightly limited options for scheduling your appointment.
  • We will do our best to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the office at any one time.

We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice. To make an appointment, please call our office at 941-787-2223 or visit our website at www.smilesofpuntagorda.com.

Thank you for being our patient. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors and friends in the safest way possible.

Sincerely,

Jeremy Martin DMD,
Christopher Ramke DMD,
and your Smiles of Punta Gorda team

Clear Aligners Solve Orthodontic Problems

April 10, 2020
Lady showing her gums | Smiles of Punta Gorda

At our Punta Gorda, FL dentist’s office, we believe that a patient is never too old to improve upon a smile that is marred by crooked, crowded, or gapped teeth. In fact, it is now easier than ever to overcome annoying orthodontic issues through an innovative treatment program called Invisalign. This clear aligners system will leave your smile looking a million times better, but is not strictly a cosmetic dentistry solution. You see, taking this kind of action now will also boost your overall oral health. Keep reading to hear more about it, and then be sure to request your consultation at Smiles of Punta Gorda by calling 941-585-0424 today.

There’s A Lot To Love About Invisalign

Invisalign is not like wearing braces replete with metal brackets and wires. Instead, this system relies upon a series of clear plastic aligner trays that are simply switched out at home every two weeks over a period of about a year, give or take. Consider this: there won’t be any awkward in-office adjustments. And sInce there are no metal parts, there shouldn’t be any mouth sores or bleeding during the treatment process. The aligners are also incredibly discreet, so no one will have to know what you are up to. The Invisalign aligners are also removable which means you can eat whatever you want. And cleaning your gear is as easy as running the aligners under warm water (you just keep brushing, flossing, and rinsing, like normal). No special tools will be required! As you can see, there is a lot to love about Invisalign, especially when compared to traditional braces. Beyond that, as we alluded to earlier, there are some real health benefits as well.

Overcome Overcrowding

If we’re being honest, crowded teeth do not make for the best look, but they also present some real oral health problems including the onset of dental decay and gum disease. Here’s why: teeth that are too close together are harder to keep clean. Eventually, oral bacteria becomes rampant and plaque builds up and causes inflammation and infection once it dips below the gum-line. As you may already know, gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss and has also been linked to more serious health issues elsewhere in the body.

Going After Gapped Teeth

There is no explanation necessary as for why gapped teeth are not helpful to your overall appearance. Everyone gets that this is a cosmetic problem. However, having gaps in your smile also means that your individual teeth will not be protected by the surrounding teeth. This increases the risk of your teeth loosening up, and other such things.

Working Around An Overbite

You may not realize it, but having an overbite is also quite bad for you in that it can create unwelcome stress on your teeth and lead to worn-down or cracked teeth that will need to be repaired by Dr. Martin. Invisalign clear aligners can help make your bite better now and eliminate the need for more costly dental work later on.

Getting Started On Your New Life

And so now you can see why Invisalign is a great way to maximize your oral health, while improving your look. It’s really easy too. If you are ready to take the next step toward your new life, we are ready for you. Dr. Martin, is a Certified Invisalign Provider, so your mouth will be in good hands with us. Call Smiles of Punta Gorda today at 941-585-0424 to request your clear aligners consultation appointment in Punta Gorda, FL.

To correct the loss I had of two teeth In the lower part of my mouth, Dr. Martin recommended I have a bridge that basically encompassed six teeth including the missing two. Thanks to his outstanding work and the work of his dental technician, the result was basically perfect. I couldn’t be happier about the outcome.
