Though there are multiple ways to fill gaps in your smile, dental implants are the option most similar to your natural teeth. Unlike other kinds of replacement teeth, they also keep you from suffering bone loss in your jaw. Understandably, you may feel a bit confused by all of the implant options.
There’s no need to worry! Our dentists will ensure you get the dental implants that are best suited to your unique situation. Call Smiles of Punta Gorda at 941-585-0424 today to schedule an implant consultation.
In the meantime, you can read our overview of the kinds of dental implants we offer:

- Mini Dental Implants
Fill a Smile Gap With a Single Tooth Implant or Implant-Supported Bridge
Before implants, the only option to replace a single missing tooth was a standard dental bridge. We can still replace one tooth this way – but we’ll need to remove structure from at least two of your healthy teeth. Then we attach crowns to those teeth to support the bridge.
With a single tooth implant, one of our dentists will attach a dental crown to a dental implant. This means we won’t have to modify any of your other teeth. Your crown looks completely natural in your smile. Plus, the bone around the tooth stays strong and healthy.
We can also use an implant-supported bridge to replace several adjacent teeth. Just like a single tooth implant, there’s no need to drill into any healthy teeth to place your bridge.
Dental Implant Dentures Offer Many Advantages
Standard dentures sit on top of your gums, held in place by suction. Even with the addition of denture adhesive, your teeth can sometimes slip out of place or even become dislodged. This is obviously embarrassing if it happens in public. Dentures attached to dental implants aren’t going anywhere! They stay in place, with no adhesive needed.
In addition implant dentures will:
- Function a lot like your natural tooth roots, stimulating your jawbone to keep it intact
- Give you a bite strong enough to enjoy almost any kind of food
- Offer a superior fit, without adhesive or relining procedures
Full Arch Implants Can Provide an Affordable Option
One of the most affordable implant options for replacing many teeth is with a procedure often referred to as an All-on-4. Using a special technique in which some of the implants are placed at an angle, our dentists can attach a complete arch of replacement teeth to as few as four implants. Six implants are sometimes used for added stability.
The treatment can be used to replace teeth in your upper jaw, lower jaw, or both jaws. Since relatively few implants are used, the procedure is less invasive and more affordable than some other methods of full-mouth reconstruction.
Mini Dental Implants May Work for You
If you lack enough bone density to support standard implants, mini dental implants may be an option for you. They can eliminate the need for a bone graft or similar procedure. They often work especially well for keeping lower dentures in place. In fact, they can sometimes be used with your existing dentures!
That said, mini implants aren’t as strong as full-sized implants, so they won’t work for every implant treatment.
